ALIKE Receives a Total of $78,125 from the Government of Canada’s SBCCI

Kitchener, Ontario


The Association of Liberian Immigrants in Kitchener Environs (ALIKE) is supported by the Government of Canada’s Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative and the Tropicana Community Services.


ALIKE has been awarded the Top up Capacity Building Grants from SBCCI and Tropicana Community Services in the amount of $45,000 in addition to the previous $33,125 totaling $78,125 to empower and enhance leadership skills of all members of ALIKE to serve the needs of our black community.


With this funding, we will hire facilitators that will be responsible to run the various workshops every month for the next 6 months. Workshops will be conducted on the following topics, professional leadership skills development, youth empowerment, financial literacy, women empowerment, digital literacy, etc. Professional skills development training will help aspired and established community leaders to advance their capabilities, support their loved ones, grow their networks and professional initiatives, and further contribute to society.

ALIKE was founded in 2005 with the sole mission to unite all Liberians and non-Liberians in Kitchener Waterloo Region. We aimed to preserve and pass on our national heritage and culture to our children while contributing meaningfully to economic and social development in the Canadian, Kitchener-Waterloo community.
